COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update

In response to the ever-changing COVID-19 situation, the Australian Rhino Project team would like to provide you with an update on our project.

As you may be aware, our conservation partner organisations of Zoos South Australia, Orana Wildlife Park and Taronga Conservation Society are temporarily closed to visitors. Essential staff at these facilities continue to provide primary care for all wildlife and maintain critical infrastructure at all locations. The planning and construction of the Rhino Management Centre at Orana Wildlife Park has been temporarily put on hold. Our South African conservation partners, Thaba Manzi Wildlife Sanctuary and Rhino Pride Foundation, continue to provide us with regular updates as to the health and wellbeing of rhinos in their care and likewise their property is currently closed to external visitors.

Whilst there continues to be uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and the long term global impact, the Australian Rhino Project team remains committed to its mission to maintain a genetically diverse breeding population of rhinos in Australia and New Zealand. We do recognize that the current situation may cause some delays and disruptions to our construction and transportation timelines. We will continue to monitor the impact of these delays and provide updates when possible.

We thank you for your ongoing support of our organization and your shared passion to help protect rhinos for future generations.
